More prom/formal nails... today's are the simplest to create, but can make a great impression!

I have a ton of pictures of these, just because I like them so much. I love how these look with a blue or black dress... I did this mani with my own prom dress in mind.  For girls with a warmer color palate in mind, a similar look with gold would look great.

The dress! This is obviously not a picture from prom but instead a picture from a fun photoshoot I did last summer with friends.

A sunlight picture, which in no way captures the full shininess of this mani.  It was blinding, I tell you.  You can see the little sun reflections from my index nail on my middle finger!

Materials:
  • Sinful Colors basecoat.  I actually couldn't find this and used something else for my basecoat, but that didn't work out too well.  More on that later...
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Silver Sweep (Silver shiny chrome-y goodness)
  • Sinful Colors Queen of Beauty (Dense silver gilitter)
  • NYC Starry Silver Glitter (rather sparse holo glitter with even sparse-er purple and blue hex glitter)
  • Nicole by OPI Make U Smile (very pale silver/blue glitter with silver hex glitter... also rather sparse)
  • Seche Vite topcoat (to get rid of that sandpaper glitter feeling.)

 Method:
After I applied my basecoat, I put down one coat of Silver Sweep, one coat of Queen of Beauty, one coat of Starry Silver Glitter (for the extra blue-ness), and 3 (!!!) coats of Make U Smile.  Thankfully, because Make U Smile has a jelly-ish texture, I only needed one coat of Seche Vite to make it all manageable.

Now, this silliness... is because I used a anti-yellowing polish as a substitute basecoat.  Apparently the other polish didn't adhere properly, and every single nail came off in a solid sheet of silver sparkles.  At least it solved the pesky glitter removal problem!
