Quickly, before I forget, here's this week's weigh in, a day late... I'm back to the weight I was the week before Disneyland, so I think that's a good sign!

Current Weight: 140.6 lbs
At Last Weigh-in: 142 lbs
Starting Weight: 144 lbs

I finally worked up the nerve yesterday to wear a proper hat out in public... a really truly hat that does not come off when I go indoors and which is firmly affixed to my hair.  I figured that for a test run I would just wear my hat in the evening to go to church rehearsal, since that's a pretty non-critical environment.

I have a surprising lack of green accessories, considering that it is one of my very favorite colors, but I pulled together what I had could find to accompany my hat.  I even managed to get pretty good curls, considering I only had them up for about half the day... although it seems that my hair is getting rather out of hand and is sorely in need of a trim!

When I went to work on Sunday, one of the sopranos came up to me and mentioned that she'd seen me wearing gloves often, and would I be interested in some more gloves?  Would I!  Of course I would.  So yesterday evening she showed up with a big bagful of gloves that had belonged to her, her mother, and her grandmother.  A few of the older leather gloves were far too small, but I ended up taking most of the gloves that would fit me, 10 pairs, and my friend Kate took three more pairs of white gloves that I passed up.  They're all gorgeous, and I am certainly looking forward to incorporating them all into my fall wardrobe.
Well, I thought I'd had plenty of good fortune for one day, so imagine my surprise when another soprano approached me at break, and asked, since I was wearing a hat, would I be interested in looking at the hats she made in her millinery class many years ago?  She hadn't worn them in years, but if I would wear them she'd like to give them to me.  Um, free hats made by someone I know in a millinery class? Yes please!  So she'll bring them for me to look at in a few weeks.  I'm so excited!  Apparently there are some smaller caps and one larger and more elaborate fedora-type number that she remembers agonizing over for weeks.  I hope I can get her to tell me the stories that go with the hats, I would love to know their history and to be able to share that with you.

I do declare the hat test drive a success!
