Vintage patio set by Arizona Creations with red and silver ric-rac

Since yesterday was Cinco de Mayo, I thought it was an entirely appropriate (if not entirely P.C.) day to wear the vintage patio set I've been hoarding in my closet.  I picked it up for the princely sum of $15 last fall, and after some aggressive soaking (it was $15 for a reason...) I managed to restore it to something pretty close to its original color.  I wasn't sure if I'd feel over-the-top wearing it, but I ended up feeling pretty comfortable.

Requisite skirt floofing and swirl test.... there is a LOT of skirt on this!  I was only wearing one petticoat for these pictures, but I can easily stuff a few more under for extra poof.  And I just love all of the different kinds of trim... I think there are five unique trimmings.  I particularly love the silver detailing.  It would be just perfect to wear with my not-actually-silver squash blossom bracelet, but I'll need to replace the stones that have long since fallen out first.

The best part about wearing this set on Sunday was that I was approached by an elderly lady who told me that my dress would have been the absolute height of fashion when she was in high school in the '40s in New Mexico!
