Hello, and I hope you're all having a lovely holiday.  Here at the Hunting House we still have a few festivities to go before our holiday season is well and properly over, so I'm still enjoying lazy mornings and lots of tea. Today's post is inspired by a "Get Ready With Me" post I saw over on Annie Pancake right before Christmas.  Apparently I've been living under a rock, but I've never seen one before, and so I set out to copy it right away.

After I shut off my alarm (yes, I set an alarm over the holidays, too!) I roll out of bed and put on my fuzzy slippers and housecoat before I shuffle downstairs.

A big cup of tea (preferably Stash Chai Spice) is a non-negotiable part of my morning routine.  When I have lots of time, I sip my tea while catching up on e-mail, blogs, and social media.  Once my tea is gone, I can get on with becoming a functional member of society.  After that, I wash my face with Pond's Cold Cream and trundle back upstairs.

Next up is picking out what to wear.  I don't always lay everything out neatly, but I do try to keep in mind if I have a piece that requires special attention... a hat, or a dress that's tricky to put on over my head.

With that decided, I sit down at my dressing table to do my makeup.  I have my table set up right underneath a large window, so unless it's very early or very late, I have lots of natural light to work with.

My daily foundation routine currently includes Revlon Colorstay foundation in Ivory and a powder that I can't remember which has been decanted into a Mary Kay container because I like the sifter better. I also use NYX HD Photogenic Concealer, but my tube is empty, so I must go to ULTA to get more.  For my eyes, I use ELF eyeshadow primer, Maybelline eyeshadow in Linen, and Mary Kay eyeshadow in Hazelnut, followed by Maybelline waterproof liquid eyeliner and "The Falsies" mascara.  Mary Kay Strawberry Cream blush & Maybelline Continuous Cranberry lipstick finish off the look.

Once all the makeup is done, I take off my scarf and brush out my hair.  Normally I'd do all of this before I put on my normal clothes, but since this dress barely goes on over my head, I figured that I should put it on before I tried to do anything with my hair!  (And yes, the 'fro is an essential step in obtaining a lovely pin-curl hairdo.)

And there you have it, ready to take on the day!  I don't have any good full body shots of my outfit, but I took some decent pictures of the dress a few days before which will be up in a bit.

Hope you're enjoying your holidays, and let me know what you thought of this post!
