NOTD: Bike Helmet-Inspired Chevrons

Hello hello, lovely readers!
This weekend, I finally managed to pull my bike out of the corner of my apartment and give it a much needed tune-up.  Once I dusted it off and got the tires inflated again (which took a bit of work!) I hopped on my trusty steed and got out for a whole hour bike ride… it was fantastic!  Although I can see that there is still more work to be done on my bicycle if I intend to ride it regularly for exercise… the chain could use oiling, I need a water bottle holder, and the seat must be replaced!

In honor of my bike’s resurrection, I decided to play with a freehand nail art design inspired by the pattern on my bicycling helmet.  I compared my helmet to my nail polish swatch wheels and managed to find pretty good matches.  I had some trouble keeping my lines totally steady, so I’ve chosen to post mostly zoomed-out pictures for this design.  I think it ended up looking great from a distance, but it’s a bit messy close up.  I think I’ll have to start swiping designs from objects around my house more often…

To achieve this look, I started out with 4 (yes, FOUR!) coats of Zoya Phoebe.  Thankfully, the matte finish helped it dry quickly in spite of the many many layers needed.  I created the dark grey triangles with a small brush and a metallic ULTA gunmetal grey mini polish.  Then I defined the edges using Sinful Colors Snow Me White and a very fine brush.  Everything was topped off with a coat of NYC Grand Central Station.
