NOTD: Green & Purple

Today’s nail design is a little odd and rather subtle.  I thought it would be really clever and interesting to use a green metallic polish to stamp over a purple/green duochrome-ish polish.  In my mind’s eye, the purple background was much more prominent and the green stamping disappeared into the green flash in the polish at certain angles.  The nail polish did not quite agree with my vision.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the end result is rather charming in its own way… but it isn’t quite what I had envisioned.  I really liked using the positive and negative versions of the same image for an accent nail effect, and I definitely think I’ll be playing with that idea more in the future.

Oh.  And moisturizing my hands more.  Nothing like macro photos to show you what the onset of winter is doing to your cuticles…

For this design, I started out with two coats of Zoya Ki, followed by one coat of Sinful Colors Let Me Go. (um, which I forgot to photograph, but it’s a lighter lavender with a green flash.  Next time, I would omit this one. I think it made the stamping less visible.)
I stamped over this with Icing metallic Bright Green (they’re creative with names over at Icing…) using the top shattered glass design from Bundle Monster image plate BM-208 on all but my ring fingernails.  For the accent nails, I used the reverse cousin of that design on the left side of the plate.  And, of course, I used my standard NYC topcoat to finish it off.  Yay!

Outfit post & Wednesday weigh-in to come tomorrow.  And maybe hats.
