A Shoe Review: Aspen

Hello! It’s me, I’m back with another shoe review!

I got the Aspen boots from Royal Vintage Shoes at the same time as my other purchases, but the fall weather wasn’t really motivating me to wear them. But when we went to visit my granddad in Wisconsin for Thanksgiving, I figured they’d be the perfect wear-with-everything shoe to bring along for the trip.

The Aspen boots were the shoe I was most excited about from the Royal Vintage fall lineup, and they did NOT disappoint.  The look, of course, is spot-on.  The heels are low and stable, comfy for walking in, and the black and white houndstooth lining adds a layer of warmth.  If I was being really really nitpicky, I could identify two things I’d like different in the next run — narrower laces (the giant round ones really need to be double-knotted firmly or they’ll just untie themselves) and I’d prefer that the foxing was done in heavy duty rubber (think a Bean Boot or similar) for better durability in snowy climates where the sidewalks are heavily salted.

I wore them with a heavy cotton Lanz dress and sparkly accessories to go attend my grandfather’s church on Sunday, and they were perfect for keeping my feet warm outside and looking perfectly presentable indoors.

I suspect you’ll be seeing these shoes a lot here on the blog as the weather gets colder as they’re such a practical and stylish choice!
